It's hard to believe how the year has flown by! We're already planning BBQs for the 4th and trying to remember where we put those fireworks we didn't use last year. Not a day goes by where I don't hear someone say "where has the year gone?" and reflect a
little on what they've accomplished.
This year has been busy, busy, busy for all of us -- between the economy, the 24-hour newscycle and an ever increasing to-do list, the months seem short but the days seem terribly long. The worst part of this frenzy is that most of us spend too much time doing things that are “urgent” and not enough time doing things that are “important”. We strive for “in the moment” satisfaction (e.g., a completed project, a returned phone call, a well executed soiree) but not necessarily the types of activities that move us towards our long term goals, feeling the joy and romance of a truly satisfying relationship.
How about a reality check: in a blink, we'll be saying “I can’t believe it’s December already”. So decide now what you want your December to look like, and who you want to be sharing it with! Start doing the necessary steps now to make sure that when you ring in 2011, you're exactly where you want to be.
It's time to move “Finding the One” into the “urgent” section of your todo list and take big steps towards finding a lifetime of happiness.
