For a few weeks each summer, my Mom and I move the Kelleher International "headquarters" to Hawaii. We find the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands inspiring, energizing and revitalizing! Don't worry, our Matchmakers are still hard
at work in all of our global locations and we are on the phone with them constantly. We're coming up on a critical time of year for our newest clients, and my Mom and I are developing strategies and preliminary matches to ensure that the next few months are filled with the romance they are hoping for.
My favorite part of Hawaii is not our great friends that we see every year, the spectacular food or the sandy beaches. It is the sunsets. Their simple and magnificent beauty never ceases to catch my breath. These wonderful sunsets remind me of life, and more importantly, I find that the sunsets of Hawaii are a great metaphor for dating and finding "the One". Sunsets, like great companionship, can be inspiring and fill you with unmatched joy. On some evenings an overcast sky can temporarily block the beauty, but just like love, we "know" that tomorrow might bring everything we're looking for. The sun always rises the next day. Not many things in life are that constant and so absolute.
When was the last time you sought out a spot to watch the sun set? Are you still taking the time to seek out the beautiful sunsets, or are you so caught up in your hectic life that you've stopped even looking? Are you fixed on the "beautiful sunsets" of past relationships or are you still attached to the "cloudy sunsets" of the past without the belief that the sun will come up tomorrow morning?
Now, I don't want to over stretch the sunset metaphor, but I do want you to consider that the key to finding true love is two fold: you must keep the faith that however cloudy it seems, majesty lies just beyond, and you must keep actively searching for it. If you haven't found "the One" yet, it is time to change "hoping" into "doing" so that we are all celebrating your romance for many sunsets to come!
